Home Learning – October 23rd

So it’s half term and you’ve survived your first seven weeks in Owls class.  Well done.  I’ve been impressd by how seriously you’re starting to take your work, and I like the real improvements that you’re making.

Over half term, I’d like you to find out about prominent figure who links to Black History Month.  What did they achieve?  Why are they special?  What challenges did they face?

Also, there’s the inevitable encouragement to learn some times tables really well.  Please check that you know your 3x and 4x tables and play some of the games on the page the previous post links to.  If you’re in my Fast Maths group, please also learn your 7x tables and divides.

Enjoy the week and be good!

Home Learning – October 9th

| October 9, 2009
Well done if you managed to organise yourself and complete the last homeworks on time.  Getting organised with a task like that takes some doing!  I’ll be looking over your work this weekend and next week.

This week, I’d like you to learn your part in the harvest service.  You should be able to perform on Tuesday without needing the script.

I’m uploading some of the videos that we made with Rachel Eltham.  If you look in your Google Docs and click on the video link at the top, your first and last videos should be there.  Thanks to Saskia for helping to upload these.

Spellings for next week are attached: click here

Have a good weekend.

Another Thunk

During this morning’s thunk about naughty animals, it was great to see so many of you really thinking about how complicated the question was.

See what you can make of this one:

If I paint over a window, is it still a window?

These ideas might help you on the way to an answer. The key word is window.  What makes something a window?   The windowin this picture – is it still a window even though the curtains are closed?

Add a comment and share what you think…

We all enjoyed learning about and practising our presentation skills with Rachel Eltham on Thursday. It was great to see how much you all developed in confidence and skill in front of the camera.
