Owl Voices

| February 27, 2010

Here’s Friday’s recording, which I hope you’ll enjoy.  Two of you sent a copy to Karen G and she said she was really impressed by how much you’ve improved over the year!  This version does have some support singing from singup, but you can hardly hear it on this – it’s mostly you, so well done!

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

We’ll do another one next week, with Abbie, Luca and Gabriella playing recorders in harmony with us, and a backing track with not even these quiet vocals to guide us.  Keep practising!

Ain’t no mountain high enough – I wish I knew how it would feel to be free – I can see clearly now – The Ken and Barbie warm-up

Tate Modern and The Globe

We’re going to Tate Modern and The Globe next Friday.

We’ve looked at Shakespeare and heard the Macbeth story in class. What did you think of the characters?  Get ready to act some parts on Friday….

In the gallery, we’re going to learn how to start making sense of modern art in a really cool gallery.  It’s going to be fantastic.

I’m looking around there this afternoon and finding the most interesting things for us to see next week.  Callum tells me there’s a huge empty black box to explore inside and a room with a table and chairs that are simply huge.  Sounds interesting! I’d like to you take a look at the tate kids website (the link is on the right) and find a piece of art that you get excited about. Be prepared to show and tell us about it in class next week.

If your parents are happy for you to do it, you could try making a soap sculpture by carving a block of white soap into an interesting shape. Use a lollipop stick, but nothing sharp!

Half Term Home Learning

| February 14, 2010

So, we’ve got a week off school.  I hope that you’ll all enjoy the chance to relax.  Maybe you’ll have a go at one of Mrs Lear’s entrichment activities, and finsh one of the book club book if you’re reading them – remember to add your thoughts onto the reviews on docs.

I’d like you all to log on to docs and complete the different chapters for your quest.  Remember to look in the folders shared with me bit on the left to find your group’s work.

Be good and enjoy the week; see you all on the 22nd.

Wisdom, rules and laws

| February 8, 2010

So, we’ve been thinking about how people have words of wisdom, rules and laws. We’ve looked at the Ten Commandments too.

How do these things help people?

If you could write a few laws to help improve the world, what would they be? What does the world need now?

Share your thoughts in the comments…
